A peer reviewed, bilingual (English & Assamese) annual journal published by the Centre for Women’s Studies, Kakojan College, providing a scholarly platform for research on women and gender.
The Centre for Women’s Studies of Kakojan College publishes a journal, Emerging Echoes, with ISSN 2230-7443, which is a peer reviewed bilingual (English and Assamese) annual journal. The first Volume of the journal with ISSN Number was published under the editorship of Dr. Ruprekha Bordoloi and Dr. Archana Bhattacharyee in the year 2012. So far twelve volumes have been published consecutively upto 2026.
Women around the globe should be celebrated for their extraordinary contributions in all areas of society — as professionals, as breadwinners, as caregivers and caretakers. But we must also focus on the stark reality that women suffer disproportionately, and also suffer from superstitions, beliefs and practices. Women and girls throughout the world still continue to experience violence, discrimination, inequality and poverty. Despite the existence of international covenants, regional treaties and domestic laws intended to codify and realize women’s human rights, the reality is that women and girls are routinely unable to claim their basic rights.
Keeping the above scenario in view, the journal Emerging Echoes published by the Centre for Women’s Studies, Kakojan College, aims to provide a platform to researchers to focus on the problems of women in their studies so as to raise their voice to end existing patterns of violence, discrimination and subjugation that disrupt women’s lives in the family, society and crisis situations. The journal also wants to focus on the success stories of women. Despite the social hurdles, women are exhibiting their excellence almost in every sphere — from space science to home making. Any women-related issue that satisfies the aims of the journal is accepted and published.
The journal Emerging Echoes, published annually by the Centre for Women’s Studies, Kakojan College, aims to provide a scholarly platform for interdisciplinary research and critical discussions on issues concerning women and gender in diverse social, cultural, economic, political, and historical contexts.
The major objectives of the journal are:
The journal welcomes original, research-based, and interdisciplinary scholarly contributions on issues related to women and gender that are consistent with its aims and objectives and contribute meaningfully to academic discourse and social understanding.
